What is Ossgrow?
Ossgrow is a bone therapy that is capable of stopping AVN progression and curing it permanently. It uses bone cell therapy; where dead cells are extracted and healthy bone cells are injected in order to develop healthy bone again.
OSSGROW is the world’s first cell-based treatment for avascular necrosis. The stem cells in our body are harvested from the bone marrow. These harvested cells are then carried into special containers to a laboratory.
In the laboratory from the bone marrow, the stem cells are separated, and by the use of special processes the cells are then converted into osteoblast is the only bone-forming cell in our body. The osteoblast is responsible for the formation of bone and also they are responsible for the secretion of various substances which help in bone growth once the stem cells are converted into osteoblast these osteoblasts are then multiplied to get around 50 million osteoblasts. What are Stem Cells?
Our body consists of special cells called stem cells or mesenchymal stromal cells( MSC). These cells are capable of changing into whatever structures our body required the cells are found in all tissues of our body. For example, bone marrow fat and other organs consist of these 10 cells stem cells have been labeled as the magic cells in our body because whenever there is a need for repair or regeneration. The cells are attracted towards the area of injury and they get converted into the final Cell at the level of injury. For example, if there is a muscle injury then stem cells would get converted into muscle cells. If there is a bone injury then the cells would get converted into a bone injury into the bone cells.
Ossogrow is done in three stages, the 1st stage is bone marrow harvesting is a small process done under general anesthesia in this process around 15 to 20 ml of bone marrow is removed from the bone around your hip this is a painless process under anesthesia. There is no stitch and it is like taking blood for the test.
2nd stage in the second stage the bone marrow which is harvested is transported to the laboratory where mission camel stem cells are separated.
In the 3rd stage, the mature osteoblast product called ossgrow is then implanted into the body. This is done by a small surgery where a small cut is taken on the outer side of the hip and the 8 mm hole is drilled into the center of the dead bone. Then through various instruments dead bone is gradually removed this is a very delicate process as the process of removal of this dead bone can itself cause a fracture of the femoral head. Finally, it implanted into the femoral head is in form of a liquid which gets converted into a gel form so that it returns into the femoral head.

Who is the ideal patient for OSSGROW?
Ossgrow treatment is only for early avascular necrosis in those patients who do not have developed any fracture into the femoral head in form of flattening for change in the shape of the femoral head are eligible for this treatment. This is known as stage 2A ficat and is in stage 3A in the new Arco classification. once there is a development of a fracture of the femoral head which is known as a subchondral fracture then the patient should understand that they will never get a normal femoral head however if the fracture is minimal and less than 2 mm depressed then these patients can also avail ossgrow treatment these patients are classified as to be 2B in Ficat and Arlet and are stage 3B in Arco classification in these patients as ossgrow treatment will help to delay the progression of arthritis by preventing for the collapse of the femur head once there is the femoral head retains the shape for longer period of time the time required to get a hip replacement is delayed therefore a patient can help delay hip replacement by use of as ossgrow.
How is Ossgrow different from ortho biological products?
The third generation of Ortho biological treatment for AVN of the hip there are three generations of this treatment in the 1st generation untreated bone marrow is harvested from the patient and this Marrow is injected into the femoral head of the patient and this was tried in the year 2000. 2nd generation Ortho biological treatment is known as BMAC (bone marrow aspiration centrifuge) in this around 400 ml of bone marrow is harvested from the patient this bone marrow is minimally treated in form of centrifuge centrifuging the bone marrow results in the concentration of MSC (mesenchymal stromal cells) stem cells into to a particular area of the centrifuge these cells have then injected into the femoral head the results of BMAC. The act is definitely better than doing Core decompression. 3rd generation treatment is when mature cells like osteoblast are injected into the femoral head the advantages of 3rd generation treatment are that we get a definite cell line of osteoblast which are the bone-forming cells and Vantage is that these cells are observed under the microscope so that we know what is injected inside the patient. The third advantage is that they are patients on osteoblastic cells and not any foreign material. The fourth advantage is that there is a special delivery mechanism whereby the cells get converted into a gel form which makes them easier to retain in the femoral head.
